Nacogdoches
Chicken farming is big business in the area and serves a large poultry processing company. The largest employer is Stephen F. Austin State University with an enrollment of around 12,000 students. The downtown of Nacogdoches is vibrant with small businesses operated by local merchants. The charm of the Old Nacogdoches area is the bright spot in the community and its heritage is protected by its residents and celebrated annually at the 9 Flag Festival and Heritage Queen programs. The historic founders of the city were of Hispanic descent and those founding families are still strongly represented in the area.
Garrison
Garrison is a city in Nacogdoches County, Texas, United States. The population was 895 at the 2010 census.
Garrison is served by the Garrison Independent School District.
In 2003, the Garrison High School football team, the Bulldogs, won the first ever state championship for the town when they defeated the Bangs Dragons 27-0.
Timpson
Timpson was founded in 1885 upon the arrival of the Houston, East and West Texas Railway. It reached its maximum population in 1925 when it was important in the shipping of lignite.
The most popular game fish at Timpson Reservoir is the largemouth bass. Numbers of bass are relatively high and an excellent fishery exists. Due to the 14-21 inch slot limit, Timpson produces a good number of trophy-sized bass. Crappie and catfish are present in the reservoir, but numbers are relatively low and few anglers target these species. Bluegill and redear sunfish provide fair fishing, especially for youth or inexperienced anglers.
Central Heights
Central Heights Independent School District is a public school district located in north central Nacogdoches County, Texas (USA).
In 2009, the school district was rated “recognized” by the Texas Education Agency.
Martinsville
The Martinsville Independent School District serves area students.
Douglass
Douglass is an unincorporated community in western Nacogdoches County, Texas, United States.[1] It is bordered on the west by the Angelina River. Approximately 500 people who live in the area. The community is named after Kelsey Douglass.
